The American Literacy Corporation (ALC) announces the 6th Annual Central PA Writers and Illustrators Virtual Summer Camp from Monday, June 14 thru Friday, July 2 from 9 AM to noon. The camp is for students going into 3rd through 8th grade in the fall of 2021. The camp will be totally online. Just as last year, the ALC will primarily use Zoom and Google classroom to manage students’ participation and interaction. The goal of the camp is for every student to write and illustrate their own book by the end of the camp. Each student will be given two free copies of their book.
Over the years, the camp has consistently accommodated between 90 and 100 participants in person. At the height of the pandemic in 2020, the ALC moved to virtual instructions only. In 2020, the camp hosted about 30 children. We will pattern the camp this week after last year. The camp is project-based and will end with a culminating event where the students will publish their own book. Each camper will be provided supplies, writing and drawing supplies, a printed copy of their own book at the end of camp. For students living outside of the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area, their supplies will be mailed to them.
